ABOUT KAREN

Karen Hall is both an artist and qualified counselor. Her evocative and mystical embroidered work draws on her experience and understanding of the human condition gained from her counseling and life experience. This has earned her an appreciative following when she shows at Exhibitions or Craft airs.

All her embroideries are original pieces of work. Fabric is dyed then the images are embroidered using both free machine embroidery and hand stitching, some with found objects and totems. The work is then presented in individually made frames.

The inspiration for the work derives from multicultural symbolism and is expressed through colour and texture. The images communicate on a number of levels and can be regarded as signposts or affirmations of life's journey or simply interesting art to hang on the wall.
